avocado

some cheeki avocados i painted on to jersey offcut, then embroidered and beaded over them. the back is just nude mesh leftover from a uni project aswell, and like comes over the shoulders and  in at the sides a bit. fits a size 6 or small 8, with an a-cup otherwise it starts to ride up haha, just because this was an experiment sample so i just used little bits of what i already had.

pineapple

v delayed... i was so attached to this idea of pineapples and twosies, but then i thought it would be fun to join it as a jumpsuit and have more colour, and tbh none of the fabric that was around was really appealing, so i was just like yolo paint the pineapples on myself. I did a trial sample to test, so like with acrylics and textile solution stuff and then just some varying size and placement.

***** ALSO will be selling one-off designs available very soon on bigcartel, check out my store here , got exciting things planned, and follow on instagram aswell - @meloxclothing

eremophobia

this compilation of mesh, french knitting, hand knitting, jersey, beading, embroidery basically comes from the brief of using knits, so i also knew i wanted to use beading and embroidery and all that, so i researching and looking into clustering, and that led to stuff like dot paintings etc, which led to the eremophobia, my concept. it's the fear of loneliness, and fear of being alone, which is so relatable to everyone at some point in time, and i just felt the clustering and wrapping created a visual communication to that idea

recycle

joining tubes to tubes and inspired by a child's slide. this leotard is pretty much experimentation of knits and placement configuration, using recycled jersey, wool cardigan and vest, and sleeves. it's like a massive mess, but not at the same time..

tessellate

so this was for one of my units about sustainability, and the brief was based on issey miyake's project APOC (a piece of cloth), so basically we had to use a piece of cloth to create a garment, with zero waste at all, using it all..as in all legit. So i was looking into geometric angular shapes, and like the kenzo and versus SS11 collections, and the alexander wang SS13 one, and i came to the concept of tessellation. and i liked the angular variety and versatility of the triangle shape, like isosceles etc, you know. So i cut the piece of cloth into about 100 triangles and sewed them all together, reinterpreting conventional tessellation ideology. I also wanted more versatility, so i included the reversible element,so you could either have the clean cut seams, or a more organic and raw look, so.. this is it
